If you’re not a huge chocolate fan, it’s likely that Easter isn’t your favourite time of year.

For those looking for a break from the chocolate-heavy offering, Morrisons has come through with the goods.

The supermarket has unveiled not one but two new cheese Easter eggs – as a twist on tradition.

Available in two different flavours, the Lancashire and Cheddar as well as Stratford Blue, the eggs are perfect for those who prefer their treats savoury.

The cheddar variety is more of a soft and creamy option, whereas the Stratford Blue is ideal for those who prefer their cheese a bit bolder.

These cheesy eggs will be on sale from Wednesday March 29, for £5, and are both handmade in Lancashire using top quality British cheese.

Morrisons has also offered up some serving suggestions for the cheesy eggs – saying that they would pair well with crumpets, crackers, and with the brand’s Mango and Amarillo Chilli Chutney or Jalapeno Chilli Jam chutney.

Speaking about the launch, Andrew Thomas – the buying manager for cheese at Morrisons – said: ‘We’re continuously looking for ways to make Easter moments fun and exciting for our customers and we’re thrilled to unveil a real unique twist on a true classic.’

However, it’s worth pointing out that this isn’t the first time a supermarket has launched a cheese Easter egg. A few years ago, Asda unveiled the ‘Cheester Egg’ – which came with mini oatcakes and a sachet of caramelised onions chutney.

Cheese lovers might also be keen to jump on the new whipped brie trend that’s taking over TikTok.
