Budget supermarket Aldi has once again seen its gin voted the best in the world.
The retailer beat competition from other supermarkets such as Waitrose and M&S and brands such as Edinburgh Gin too. Aldi’s Haysmith's Rhubarb & Ginger Gin achieved the highest score in the competition.
The gin was crowned best in the world at this year's International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC). The Rhubarb & Ginger Gin is priced at £14.99.

The own-brand gin won the highest possible award, a Gold Outstanding, scoring the highest points within the competition. Aldi’s bottle beat Edinburgh Gin’s Rhubarb & Ginger option, which retails at around double the price of the winning bottle.
Aldi’s gin was praised by judges, scoring winning points all round. Judges said: “Magnificently well balanced with full, rich flavours of mouth-watering rhubarb, fiery ginger and chaste juniper.”
The discount supermarket picked up a total of 17 awards at the contest, including a Gold medal for its Glen Marnoch Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky being praised for its “lovely soft texture and solid length”.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We are extremely proud to have received the highest possible accolade for our own brand spirits. Now more than ever, we want to show that low prices don’t mean compromising on quality or taste.”
